So you're interested in working with an outsourced design team. Great news!

Here are 3 of our top tips for outsourcing your graphic design projects to a team, agency or freelancer.

Tip #1: Have a Vision

Ideally, you will have a vision for what you want, and you will be able to communicate it verbally, in writing, and in symbolic form e.g. sketches.

The more clearly you can articulate your vision the easier it will be for your outsourced design team to execute on it.

Tip #2: Have a Process

Any outsourced team you work with should have a process in place for handling outsourced graphic design projects.

Here at Design Butler™ we have a simple 3 step process:

Our 3 Step Graphic Design Process (For Outsourced Design Work)

Step 1: Sketch

The process begins with you sketching out what you want - include logos, images, text (fonts) and colors you want used - as well as any inspiration in the form of images, symbols, designs and even kindergarten-style sketches you create or find online.

In essence, you are defining your requirements in this step.

Your outsourced design company will then translate your vision into a set of notes and files that the designers can use to execute the job(s).

It's important to provide a lot of information and detail at this stage as it can prevent the need to start from scratch later on.

Step 2: Design

We work our design magic behind-the-scenes, and send you drafts for review - often within one business day for single jobs that are relatively simple.

Step 3: Revise

With your feedback we revise until you are happy.

Having a rock-solid design process in place helps outsourced projects go more smoothly, so look for any company you work with to have one and be able to explain it.

Tip #3: Communication is Everything

Design can be boiled down into two things: communication and decisions.

Being able to communicate with a native English speaker is a huge advantage in the process.

Be wary of design companies who try to get you to communicate via chat box to an overseas designer with less-than-steller English. There are enough communication obstacles with outsourced design projects, so don't let language and culture get in the way.

That's it for our top 3 tips on how to outsource graphic design work and projects.

Outsourcing graphic design jobs, when done properly, can be a tremendous cost savings for any company willing to invest in the process.
